Why should I use beard oil or beard balm?
We understand that using beard oil and beard balm may be a new concept to some. But those in the know are already using these products as part of their daily grooming routine, and are reaping the wide range of benefits that these products offer. The most prominent benefits are a healthy, moisturised and conditioned beard which has a great shine and volume. The moisturising and conditioning doesn't stop with just your hair - your skin will also love our products, and will show a marked reduction in flaky, dry skin and 'beard-druff' (dandruff of the beard). You'll also notice a reduction in itchiness while growing out your beard - which is a huge bonus.
Poseidon natural beard care products are great for all beards lengths, from stubble to full 'beast-mode' - the ingredients we use have been carefully selected to promote and encourage beard growth and to ensure that all stages of growth are catered for. Your beard will be stronger yet softer and more manageable, and to top it all off, our products will make your beard smell amazing!
In fact, the real question here should be 'Why shouldn't I use beard oil or beard balm?'!
Which is best for me?
That's a good question - and the answer is that it really comes down to personal preference. We'd recommend that you use beard oil for a shorter beard, and beard balm for a longer beard as it will help to keep those longer hairs under control. Beard oil will result in a shiny, glossy finish with less styling hold, while beard balm is more likely to give a matt finish with better styling properties, which is why plenty of our customers use a combination of both beard oil and beard balm to achieve the look and feel that they are going for. As always, we encourage you to experiment to find what works best for you!
What is beard oil?
Poseidon beard oils are composed of a blend of natural botanical oils and pure essential oils, primarily formulated to moisturise and nourish your beard and skin. Each of the oils used in the blend are chosen for their complementary beneficial properties which will result in a healthy, conditioned and vibrant beard.
How do I use beard oil?
The best time to apply your beard oil is right after you get out the shower. Towel dry your beard until it is slightly damp and place a few drops of oil into the palm of your hand. See below for recommended measures. Rub your palms together, making sure to cover your fingers. Start at the roots of your beard and work your way out. Massage the oil evenly throughout your whole beard. You can work in any remaining oil into the skin on your face - it's readily absorbed and has skincare benefits as well!
Example measures for beard oil:
Apprentice (Stubble/Moustache): 1-2 drops
Master (Medium Beard): 3-4 drops
Hero (Large Beard): 5-10 drops
Deity (Huge-beard): 10+ drops
Every beard is different, so please experiment to find the perfect amount for your beard.
What is beard balm?
Just like our beard oils, Poseidon beard balms are composed of a blend of natural botanical oils, pure essential oils - but also contain shea butter and beeswax which provide additional conditioning and hold to tame and shape your beard. Our beard balm is formulated to moisturise and nourish your beard and skin. Each of the oils used in the blend are chosen for their complementary beneficial properties which will result in a healthy, conditioned and vibrant beard.
How do I use beard balm?
The best time to apply your beard oil is right after you get out the shower. Towel dry your beard until it is slightly damp and massage a thumbnail sized portion into the palm of your hand. Apply even to your beard from the roots, working your way out. Gently massage the balm evenly throughout your whole beard, and comb into shape using your fingers or a good comb. Of course, the required amount will vary from person to person and beard to beard… Please experiment to find the perfect amount for your beard.
How often should I use beard oil or beard balm?
Beard Oil and Beard Balm are best applied at least once a day. However, there is no reason why you can't apply them more often - an afternoon or evening boost to the scent and shine of your beard is never a bad thing!
How long will my product last?
Your Poseidon beard oil and beard balm should last you at least 2 months when used daily. This is based on use for a huge beard, so you can expect your product to last you a lot longer if you haven't reached 'Deity' level yet! To extend the shelf life - which is already a generous 18 months, all of our products are presented in either amber bottles or aluminium containers to ensure that harmful UV rays are blocked. Further to this, we make all beard oils and balms in small batches to keep your blended products as fresh as possible.
